Believe it or not, our story begins way back when we were just 8 years old. Our dads worked together, and one summer, Maddie’s dad (Dave) invited David’s family up to their cottage in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. We both have faint but sweet memories of splashing around in Lake Michigan—just two kids playing in the waves, totally unaware that life would bring us back together in the most unexpected way.

Fast forward about 15 years: we were both 23, home in Oakland County after college, and happened to match on a dating app. From the very first conversation, everything just clicked. As we got to know each other, we realized not only had we met as kids, but David and his siblings also went to school with Maddie’s step-siblings for most of their lives. Small world, right?

Our first date was at Lipuma’s in downtown Rochester, and from that moment, we knew something special was beginning. We quickly became best friends and partners in everything—working side by side, moving in together, and adopting (now four!) amazing cats. Along the way, we’ve shared a love for travel, exploring new places and creating unforgettable memories. But beyond that, our bond has only deepened through our shared passions for music, sports, food, animals, and movies. Whether we’re at a concert, cheering on our favorite teams, trying a new restaurant, or enjoying a cozy movie night at home, we’re happiest when we’re together—laughing and making life an adventure.

In 2023, we moved into our first home, and in 2024, David proposed! Life together has been full of love, growth, and joy—and this is just the beginning. We’re so excited to get married and continue writing our story, side by side
